Common Polish language struggles of Polish heritage speakers are:
- lack of vocabulary related to topics outside of familiar interactions (work, pop culture, social issues, formal vs. informal speech, news etc.)
- grammatical mistakes (verb conjugation, cases, sentence structure, etc.)
- misunderstandings (idiomatic expressions, verbs with prefixes, common expressions, cultural references, etc.)
- writing skills (not everyone had a chance to go to a Polish school)
- lack of confidence when speaking (feeling uncomfortable around native speakers who expect you "to speak like a native")
